Spaceco, a leading consultant in Civil Engineering and Land Surveying headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois has an immediate opening for a Project Surveyor.
This position is currently not eligible for remote work. Must be able to commute to our Rosemont office.
The Project Surveyor conducts surveying services for various projects that pertain to land surveying and civil engineering obtained by the company more particularly described below:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for legal boundary survey calculations analysis and final map check in, researching title data, set up and client relations.
- Responsible for timely completion of drafting projects through monitoring and adjusting schedules as needed.
- Establishes routine communication with the client and project team members while assisting and managing resources.
- Monitors project budget against the scope of work, identifies cost-saving opportunities, and implements effective solutions to potential problems.
- Mentors field team members along with recommending staff training.
- Participates in field work when necessary and if able on a minimum basis
- Prepares other job-related duties requested or assigned by supervisory employee.
- Prepares plats and plan in accordance with state, municipal, and company standards.
- Assists with the preparation of legal descriptions.
- Organizes and maintains survey job files and records.
- Follow Quality Management guidelines related to the surveying department.
- Creates an effective communication network with key personnel and informs the project manager of any changes in scope, process, or data quality.
- Provides technical experience when needed.
- Maintains an attentive and observant approach to procedures, project details, and scope.
- Coordinates with other departments and staff to assist with project survey results to deliver accurate estimates for proposals and scope of work.
- Conducts proper briefing to field crews on project scope and budget.
Key Qualifications:
- 2+ years of combined surveying experience.
- Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Land surveying or related degree
- Illinois PLS Licensure or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Indiana or Wisconsin Licensure not required but a plus
- Experience with MicroStation.
- AutoCAD experience not required but a plus
- Proficient in using Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of survey data collection procedures.
- Experience with conventional and GPS survey field equipment and data collection software.
- Ability to read and understand survey notes, sketches, maps, deeds, as-built drawings, construction plans, and other records.
- Experience creating survey field notes, project site sketches, and other written records.
- Experience with construction staking and calculations.
- Good communication skills.
- Effective time management, and ability to work across disciplines.
- Good organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong work ethic, desire to learn and grow.
- Adaptability to frequent shifts in direction.
