About the Site

Ellinwood and Miner streets have served as the Des Plaines central business district since the 1870s, with Lee Street acting as a major thoroughfare in the area. The commerce hub of this Chicago suburb required capital improvement streetscape beautification.

Our Contributions

In a project that bridged the historic and modern, Spaceco acted as Resident Engineer on the city’s behalf. Our team was responsible for the project’s daily oversight, as well as IDOT inspection and quality documentation services. We issued daily and weekly reports, submitted monthly pay estimates, prepared punch lists, and tracked change orders.

The project included the installation of roadway and pedestrian light poles, concrete base pavers, and landscaping. Additionally, it called for road resurfacing, along with improvements to storm sewers, sanitary sewers, and watermains.
